For most of us that take pride in the way we look, the thought of suffering with acne or Zits, may at first seem awful; but there are now many treatments available which can help the condition so it is more bearable. A great deal of money is being spent researching the condition; this is good news with the range of effective skin care treatments improving all the time. There are a broad range of acne skin care products available:

* Drugstore: Preventative treatment

* Over-the-Counter: Treatments for conditions that do not require prescription

* Prescription: Issued for specialized medication from a doctor etc.

Those that fall into the preventative category are based around general skin conditioning to help stop acne from forming; products like skin cleansers and toners fall into this category. In the real sense, these products are just those that should be part of your daily routine; there use is not just confined to individuals who are suffer with the complaint. There are acne skin care products that are more specialized in there approach; they are formulated to reduce and limit the amount of oil in the pores of our skin. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria which can cause the problem begin to grow.

This type of skin care treatment also includes those which exfoliate such as skin peels; most are readily available over the counter at drug stores or even online. This type of peel helps reduce the chance of oil clogging up the pores as well as removing other skin impurities; this can reduce the bacterium growth on your skin. Many other acne skin care products have become available over the counter and on the internet; they don’t usually require a prescription. A bacterium that aids the formation of acne is stopped by creams and cleansers that contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid; they work by removing the excess oil from the skin and halt the growth of acne.

Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide (less than 5.5 percent is recommended), just to see how the skin reacts; a safer alternative to benzoyl peroxide is anything containing alpha hydroxy acid. As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; if none of them work then you would be advised to contact your skin specialist. If you do need to see your doctor or skin care specialist then he may give you a prescription for antibiotics or special ointments.

Your dermatologist may suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules; although this is a minor procedure, if it were performed by the person themselves it could result in skin damage. Your doctor could prescribe a hormone-based treatment to treat your skin problem; hormone changes are known to be one cause of acne. Science has produced many effective treatments for this unkind condition.

A curse to many women, cellulite is formed close to the skin surface, producing wrinkled fat cells intermixed with the connective tissue that gives that strange ‘orange peel’ effect witnessed by many; predominantly accumulating in areas below the waist. Most women carry excess fat in thighs and buttocks, but this problem is not confined just to the overweight; the cottage cheese appearance so familiar with this condition can affect slim women as well.

Cellulite forms just below the surface of the skin in the thighs and buttocks region, where areas of fat collect and force themselves against the tissue creating a puckered look to the surface of the skin. In reality, nobody knows the real reason why some people accumulate these fats and not others, but there are some factors that health experts are considering such as the structure of the fat cells or toxins that enter the body.

What is certain though is that the older you become the greater the likelihood of this type of cell forming as the elastin and collagen, that help stop aging lines, becomes less effective. Women are more prone to hormonal imbalances as they age and the fat found in their thighs and buttocks where it forms is different to the fat in other areas, unlike men who rarely suffer with this condition.

The presence of cellulite is not always prominent, unless one tries to pinch the upper skin of one’s thigh; should it feel lumpy then you most certainly have it but a woman should not feel bad about having it, since most have this condition to a certain degree. Although it may not be known what causes, some factors seem to contribute to its build up including age, sex, extra fat carried and skin thickness all seem to aid the formation.

One thing for sure is that technology has not as yet devised a miracle potion or treatment that can eradicate it completely. One method that hides the cellulite quite well by puffing the skin is deep massage and an increasing number of clinics are now offering this therapy.

Liposuction is sometimes used to remove fats generally from the body and can be attempted for this condition as well but the use of drugs injected into the cells to remove it is costly and out of reach for most women. However, these are only temporary measures so do not provide permanent relief and liposuction is really only efficient for deeper based fats and not those close to the surface as with cellulite.

A number of cosmetic manufacturers claim their creams are an effective method of removing the fat cells but it would seem these are just a method of masking the condition making it less visible and so far no definitive treatment exists. The most successful regimes so far are to adopt regular exercise, a good nutritious low-fat diet plan and reduce extra weight where possible.

In addition, increasing the intake of water will help cleanse the system and flush out damaging toxins plus smokers should stop smoking or at least reduce it which will also be beneficial as smoking impacts negatively on the capillaries in the skin and reducing stress will help reduce the amount of cellulite.
